HOW OFTEN WE FIND ourselves in the midst of a conflict, yet not really sure how we got there. There is no law that says you have to keep forging ahead until someone wins.

You can put up your hands to signal a time-out and ask, ”What’s going on here that we are doing this?” When you stop the action, you can begin something new.

Stopping gives you the opportunity to ask for another perception, and perception is the key to understanding what needs to happen next.

So stop. You wouldn’t consciously go through a red light, would you?  Well, when the discussion is heated and not going anywhere, the light is red!
