Dear Difference Maker, Whether you are new to my work or have been with me for nearly 20 years now, you are always on my mind. What these years of being with you virtually has taught me is that what I know about you is that you are difference maker who dreams of becoming a leader, making every place you walk into better than you found it. Currently, your focus is on finding the simplest, easiest and most enJOYable ways to reignite people’s hearts, minds and spirits. Ultimately, you really want to develop a rigorous habit of being awake, aware of the people put on your path for you to reach out and acknowledge. Right this minute, you would be ecstatic if you could extend your reach exponentially to re-energize as many people as possible so they will be moved to do the same. Unfortunately, you still need to figure out how to connect with those you love and work with who are emotionally demoralized, disgruntled and disengaged.
You are also frustrated by the fact that you just don’t have the energy or the time to learn exhaustive, time-consuming, complicated psychological systems for working with the growing number of individuals who are lost, lonely and/or oppositional. Plus, you still need the answer to this question before you can move forward: “How can I meet the magnified needs of so many who are having a hard time of it when there is only one of me and my emotional bandwidth is running out fast?” You are also hung up on the idea that all your efforts are just not working when you try to make a difference in the lives of so many who need a difference to be made. In fact, when it comes to finding the simplest, easiest and most enJOYable ways to reignite people’s hearts, minds and spirits, you are convinced that JREDDers (Justify, Rationalize, Explain, Defend, Debate) actually want you to FAIL. When all is said and done, you just want to reach into the heart of every single person and show them that they are making a difference right here, right now.
Show them that who they are makes a difference right here, right now. There’s nothing to earn. It’s WHO they are … What if you did “one thing different”, something that didn’t require much thought or planning, but that gave you a lift that will last? Something that will re-energize your spirits and renew your faith in humanity … Something uncomplicated.
