Dear Difference Maker, As everything is magnifying in the world, one might think it’s impossible to make a difference in any meaningful, self-sustaining way.
Have you ever read a particular poem, heard a certain quote, or a short story, and the message just grabbed you right in the heart at just the right time?
I’d like to share one of my favorite stories with you today.
The Star Thrower
Inspired by the writing of Loren Eiseley One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a figure in the distance. As he got closer, he realized the figure was that of a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish into the ocean. The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.” “Son,” the man said, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and thousands of starfish? You can’t possibly make a difference!” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said, “I made a difference for that one.”
 This story reminds us that we can make a difference. That it’s as simple as the power of ONE.
ONE moment at a time.
ONE person at a time.
ONE day at a time.
Always remember how one small act of acknowledgment can have a life changing impact …
