Today’s TurnAround is: Give It 30 Seconds!

Why 30?  Why not!

I can hear someone saying that there’s just no way you can get a kid to calm down once they’ve hit the ozone layer!

And yet, that’s what I can show you how to do if you want.

So, as you know, I have spent the past 40 years helping thousands of people overcome challenging teaching and parenting experiences.

As a FPC – Former Problem Child with a Masters in Educational Psychology Counseling & Development, I turned my passion into becoming a Behavioral TurnAround Specialist Specialist.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked in various educational settings, transforming the lives of socially, emotionally and academically struggling students.

So, what exactly is a 30 Second Turnaround?

It’s a strategy that harnesses the energy you bring to interactions to create positive outcomes. It’s about understanding that CONNECTION is always influenced by ENERGY, and this energy has a significant impact on behavior outcomes.

If you’ve been struggling with this, let me reassure you: “You are not crazy!”

The energy behind your attitudes, vibes and tone can inadvertently impact every interaction you have.

The key to effectively addressing these challenges lies in getting to the heart of the struggle.  By utilizing the power of 30 Second Turnarounds, you can transform intense situations into opportunities for long-term self-regulation and self-advocacy in today’s youth.

FOR THE FUN OF IT:  The next time you are upset about someone or something  Give It 30 Seconds!  Unless of course someone’s life is in immediate danger.

Otherwise, stop everything and just breathe.

So here is what can happen in 30 seconds of just breathing and slowing things down.  The executive region of your brain will get some oxygen so your mind can reboot.

Next, if you put your right hand on your heart, you’ll get to the heart of your upset.  Finally, go ahead and cry, it will help you get in touch with what you would have preferred instead.

Stop talking about what you do not want and start talking about your preferences for next time.

There you have it:  Give it 30 Seconds!
