Each year when we used to travel up to the White Mountains of northern New Hampshire to see the fall foliage, I was always reminded of Anita Baker’s heart-opening song, “You Bring Me Joy.” Every October 1 marks the beginning of the annual Pumpkin People contest in the area we used to live … it is my hope that they bring you as much JOY as they bring me! Area businesses and homeowners get into the fall foliage spirit and create unique, colorful and playful Pumpkin People throughout the village of Jackson, New Hampshire and surrounding towns. There are pumpkin-fests all over the United States and Canada. If you live in such an area, make it a point to get out and enjoy a pumpkin celebration during this beautiful harvest season. And in thinking about our International friends, we hope you enjoy taking in our harvest traditions and Pumpkin People as much as we do. Reaching out …

One year, at the end of my presentation, I was being my fully animated self when I swung my right arm forward and said, “…and so, it’s time to take ACTION,” and at that exact moment, I hit my glass of water and it shot halfway across the room. This accident was perfect! What if all mistakes were really on purpose, or what if there were no accidents? We’d all be a lot more relaxed about things, and we’d just know that somehow this was all just to help us remember that we are only human after all! So, see the humor as quickly as you can.
