Surrender

THIS IS A STRATEGY THAT frightens many people. There is a misconception that “to surrender” means “to lose.” You might want to ask yourself, ”What is it I feel I will lose?” Maybe you have already lost it!

Surrender simply means letting your defenses down. It doesn’t mean lie down and get stomped on; it just means “cool your jets,” or yield.

Sometimes, we’re so intent on being “right” that we dominate an interaction until it has no place to go. This can happen easily with children because we see them as less than or not equal to us.

When you find yourself not getting anywhere, think in terms of letting go a little.

You’ve heard of surrendering to love? Well, when you let your guard down, you’ll find that feelings soften, and communications improve.

Surrender doesn’t mean “don’t be safe”; it means “allow for a little openness and change.”

The more I surrender,
the more love I feel.
