When time runs out, that’s it for quite a while.

Here is a true story I think you will find interesting by  Steve Goodier, One Minute Can Change A Life:

Unthanked People

When William Stidger taught at Boston University, he once reflected upon the great number of un-thanked people in his life. Those who had helped nurture him, inspire him or who cared enough about him to leave a lasting impression.

One was a schoolteacher he’d not heard of in many years. But he remembered that she had gone out of her way to put a love of verse in him, and Will had loved poetry all his life. He wrote a letter of thanks to her.

The reply he received, written in the feeble scrawl of the aged, began, “My dear Willie.” He was delighted. Now over 50, bald and a professor, he didn’t think there was a person left in the world who would call him “Willie.”

Here is that letter:

My dear Willie,
I cannot tell you how much your note meant to me. I am in my eighties, living alone in a small room, cooking my own meals, lonely and, like the last leaf of autumn, lingering behind. You will be interested to know that I taught school for 50 years and yours is the first note of appreciation I ever received. It came on a blue-cold morning, and it cheered me as nothing has in many years.

Not prone to cry easily, Will wept over that note. She was one of the great un-thanked people from Will’s past. You know them. We all do.

The teacher who made a difference. That coach we’ll never forget. The music instructor or Sunday school worker who helped us to believe in ourselves. That Scout leader who cared.  That administrative professional who acknowledged and acted upon our concerns.  The nurse who comforted us during our recovery.  The neighbor across the street who always checks in with you to see if you are alright and so on …

We all remember people who shaped our lives in various ways. People whose influence changed us. Will Stidger found a way to show his appreciation — he reached out and made a point to acknowledge them directly.

Who are some of the un-thanked people from your past?

It may not be too late to say, “Thanks for the difference you make in my life.”

Trust me when I say, this one Energy Hack alone will completely change the way you approach problematic behaviors.

Now, I know what you might be thinking – it’s impossible to Vulcan Mind Meld a kid into good behavior, right?

Trust me, I’ve been there too.

We’ve all read countless books, searched the internet, and tried various methods, but only experienced fleeting relief.

Well, get ready to be amazed because I have a tried and tested approach that delivers amazing results more times than not!

Imagine being able to turn around any situation in 30 seconds or less. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?

But here’s the secret: it all starts with changing your vibe to see your kids thrive.

As the adult in the room, we hold the power to either escalate or diffuse a situation. Physical proximity is important, but non-judgmental energetic connection is the game-changer.

Here’s the big idea:

There’s an energetic component to the transformative power of connection.

It’s not just about being present; it’s about aligning your words with your attitude, vibes, and tone. They must be congruent.

Otherwise, no matter how much time you spend with a child or how much positive reinforcement you provide, you won’t achieve the desired long-lasting results.

Let me give you an example.

If you genuinely dislike a child, there’s an invisible energetic barrier between the two of you that no amount of encouragement can break. Vibes never lie.

You might be thinking, “But Mary, this kid keeps doing the same thing over and over, and I’m at my wit’s end! How can I change my vibe when I can’t even calm myself down?”

I get it. It can be challenging, especially when you’ve tried everything. But, bear with me here. Imagine, in that moment of intense frustration, the most compassionate and non-judgmental person you know walks into the room. Just by their presence alone, your vibe shifts instantly!

Take just 30 seconds to reflect on how you’re energetically connecting, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly and effortlessly you can put an end to upsetting situations.

The key is not to overthink it. Changing your vibe isn’t about telling yourself to calm down; it’s about suspending all judgment in the moment.

Now, you might be wondering, “What’s next?” Well, that’s a topic for another email. But trust me, it’s worth sticking around. I’ll be back soon with more valuable insights on effectively connecting with kids and creating a harmonious environment.
