Connecting With Colors is not only about learning what makes our individual quirks and idiosyncracies valid, it’s about learning how to embrace gently those problematic areas of our own and others’ personality types. Individuals will learn from this that, ironically, our strengths are sometimes also our problematic areas.
Not only do we want to learn about ourselves, but we also need to consider the personality style of others that is most difficult for us to deal with and communicate with.
When we learn about our own neurological wiring system and how it incorporates not only what we highly value, but how we think and integrate information, then we begin to understand why we are not on the same wavelength verbally and intellectually as someone who has entirely different values and thinking processes.
I have truly enjoyed field testing the information in this book with tens of thousands of people. I see this message as an educational conversation that can bring alignment between people everywhere. I know you’ll find this information simple, straightforward and easy to use right away.
As I’ve traveled and spoken across the country, what I have found is that at the heart of every single person I’ve come in contact with, we all essentially want the same things: peace, love, harmony and good will.

That’s when I studied the presentation of one of the seasoned trainers during a seminar entitled, “How To Deal With Difficult People.” I loved an opening he used:
Do you work with a difficult person?
Do you live with a difficult person?
Are YOU the difficult person?
My introduction to personality styles began in 1994 when I was about to begin working as a seminar trainer for National Seminars Group (NSG).
We each took a personality test in our workbooks and then the speaker began his humorous interpretation of each of the styles. This particular assessment was created by Virginia Satir and it included personalities styles labeled: Blamer, Placater, Computer, Distracter and Leveler.
The speaker had the entire audience laughing until they cried. He had me laughing too, at first, but then I gradually became more and more agitated about what I understood my husband’s style to be.
By the time I got home that night, I was so upset about my husband’s personality style that it launched us into another round of our same old, drag-out argument.
